A Good Year for GobblersIdaho・s turkey populations, hunting harvest figures and hunters・ ranks have grown steadily and progressively since the early 1980s. Last season was the real boomer when the harvest jumped from just over 1,700 in 1996 to 2,700+. Hunters, the Turkey Federation faithful and Fish and Game bird biologists all had big grins from seeing their efforts pay off. Following one of the mildest winters on record and with good rearing conditions last year, turkey hunters should have a better chance at bagging birds this spring than they have ever seen in Idaho.
