Application Deadline
April 30 is the deadline for application to hunt California and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. Last year, 77 tags were available for Rocky Mountain bighorns, and 740 people applied. Only 39 tags were available for the California bighorn, and 584 applied for them last year. There has been an increase slightly of tags for the California bighorn, and a decrease of tags for Rocky Mountain sheep.
Resident tags cost $69.50 and non-resident tags cost $909.50. Application fee is $6.50 and is non-refundable whether you draw or not. All applications will be notified by June 10, at which time you will receive a refund or a permit.

If you draw a permit, you will be required to attend "sheep school" at a Department office.
If you take a ram, you must file a mortality report within 10 days.
